The feedback on my exercises was the part that surprised me most. I expected a marking scheme but what I got was someone actually explaining where my thinking went wrong and suggesting a different approach. That does not happen in most online courses.

A closer look at how three learners moved through different stages of the Forgemind curriculum.
The Starting Point
Anan worked in data entry and had no programming background. He had tried a few free Python tutorials but kept dropping off around the point where exercises became less structured.
What He Did
He enrolled in Forging the Basics and set aside about two hours each evening on weekdays. When he got stuck on data structures, the mentor's written response redirected his approach within 24 hours.
Where He Got To
Ten weeks in, he completed the portfolio project — a small data pipeline that read from a public API and produced a cleaned output file. He then enrolled in Stage 02.

The Starting Point
Priya had a maths background and had completed a university machine-learning course two years earlier, but had not applied it since and felt the practical side had faded significantly.
What She Did
She joined Shaping Models directly, skipping Stage 01. The code reviews made it clear where the gap between her theoretical knowledge and applied practice was sharpest — particularly in evaluation and preprocessing.
Where She Got To
Completed the course in four months working part-time. The portfolio project — a classification model with documented evaluation — was something she used in technical conversations.

The Starting Point

The Master Build Programme gave her a structure for the extended project. She worked with a mentor across multiple sessions and participated in peer review, which helped her see how other learners were approaching similar problems.
Where She Got To
Five months to capstone showcase — a text classification system with documented methodology. She received a course completion record and walked through the portfolio with a senior mentor before finalising it.
